The SCRIPTS Working Paper Series serves to disseminate the research results of work in progress prior to publication. The series was set up to encourage the exchange of ideas and academic debate between the SCRIPTS Cluster of Excellence and a broader public on the contemporary controversies about the liberal script from a historical, global, and comparative perspective. For SCRIPTS researchers, fellows, visiting fellows and guest fellows it offers a vehicle to disseminate their research. For readers, the Working Paper Series reflects what and how research is carried out at the Cluster. Manuscripts can be submitted by all SCRIPTS researchers and are reviewed in a single blind review procedure by a SCRIPTS researcher.
