During her time at SCRIPTS, Sadaf Aziz will refine a project looking at the Pakistani state at its founding. She focusses on the events of founding in reference to significant sites of inheritance or disruption to the configuration of a governmental order at this time. She does this by bringing attention to the techniques of government forged under colonialism, through attentiveness to the operations of the All India Muslim League and it’s spokespersons. A specific contribution this work makes is to understand the transition to independent statehood through a more intricate appreciation of inaugural events in which the priority of achieving or demonstrating sovereignty would have long-standing effects.
