Supervision

The BGTS is committed to high standards of doctoral supervision. Each doctoral researcher is assigned a team of two supervisors and one additional professorial advisor who serves a mentor during the time of doctoral studies. The first supervisor is the main supervisor and also serves as an evaluator, the other two can be chosen either from the BGTS faculty or come from a partner or an external institution. Doctoral researchers frequently meet with their supervisors, as foreseen by the formal work plan and the timetable doctoral studies, but with a flexibility to respond to the doctoral researcher’s needs in terms of guidance and discussion. The goal for the regularly scheduled meetings is to identify candidates’ strengths and weaknesses in order to provide individual support to best suit each doctoral researcher. In addition, doctoral researchers have the opportunity to get feedback from different faculty members during the regular research colloquia, which complements that of their supervisors.
