Marlien Schlaphoff took up a position as Special Assistant to the Executive Director at the Center for International Peace Operations (ZIF) in Berlin in June 2018. Until May 2018, she worked as Coordination Officer for the Berlin Graduate School for Transnational Studies.

Marlien completed her PhD at the BTS and the WZB Berlin Social Science Center in 2017. In her thesis, she analyzed the counterterrorism policies of regional organizations with a special focus on the scope of  the activities. Marlien has conducted research at the University of New South Wales in Sydney and has taught at the University of Potsdam.

Before starting her PhD project, she studied International Management with a focus on Latin America in Flensburg and Law and Politics of International Security in Amsterdam.
