Christian is a postdoctoral researcher at the Hertie School of Governance and deputy director of the Jacques Delors Institute Berlin, the School’s Centre for European Affairs. He holds a PhD from the Berlin Graduate School for Transnational Studies, an MA from Sciences Po Paris and a BA from Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich. He was also a visiting researcher at the University of Ottawa and the European University Institute in Florence. His PhD thesis, parts of which were published in the Journal of European Public Policy, explored the multilevel politics of trade liberalisation. Currently, he works on differentiated integration in the European Union and asymmetrical federalism in the United States, Canada and Switzerland.
