SCRIPTS in Singapore: Strategic Planning Workshop

SCRIPTS has held a first strategic planning workshop with its Asian partners on November 29, 2019 in Singapore. Prof. Dr. Tanja A. Börzel, one of the two Cluster’s speaker, hosted the workshop together with Prof. Dr. Soo-Yeon Kim from National University of Singapore, one of the Cluster’s international partners in Asia. Prof. Dr. Börzel introduced the Cluster and emphasized the important role of the international partners in contributing regional expertise to the Cluster to gain better insight into the area-specific understanding of the liberal script, its variations and alternatives, as well as dynamics of contestation. Prof. Dr. Thomas Risse presented the structure of the Berlin International College of Research and Graduate Training (BIRT), in particular the International Research College (IRC), the hub for international fellows, as well as the Cluster’s many training and fellowship programmes. Further participants from the Cluster’s partners in Asia and its broader network included Prof. Dr. Ummu Salma Bava (Jawaharlal Nehru University), Prof. Dr. Zhao Chen (Chinese Academy of Social Sciences), Prof. Dr. Demin Duan (Peking University), Prof. Dr. John Keane (University of Sydney), Prof. Dr. Adrian Little (University of Melbourne), Prof. Dr. Tony Tam (The Chinese University of Hong Kong), Prof. Dr. Min Shu (Waseda University) and Prof. Dr. Yu Zheng (Fudan University). During the intense one-day workshop, the participants discussed the Cluster’s research goals and assessed possibilities for the international partners to contribute and collaborate over the course of the Cluster’s funding period.
