Internal discussion | Knowledge exchange with SCRIPTS and foreign policy actors: The liberal script and the Indo-Pacific – strategies, narratives and perspectives

Apr 27, 2022 | 09:30 AM - 11:00 AM

In collaboration with the German Federal Foreign Office, SCRIPTS' Knowledge Exchange Team (Politics) organises an internal panel discussion with foreign policy actors and scholars. The panel discussion addresses questions regarding policy strategies and narratives of the actors of the Indo-Pacific and beyond, especially in light of the Russian invasion.

Based on the discussions during the SCRIPTS regional conference ‘Liberal Script(s) – Versions and Contestations of a Concept’, held in February 2022, the Knowledge Exchange Lab brings together high-ranking policy makers and scholars in order to address questions regarding policy strategies and narratives of the actors of the Indo-Pacific and beyond, especially in light of the Russian invasion.

Even before the Russian aggression against Ukraine, the "Indo-Pacific" region was characterized by strong geopolitical rivalries. Thus, an increasingly visible buildup of arms and a process of bloc formation among some of the most important actors in this region pushes German and European foreign policy makers to show a clearer political stance. This becomes even more urgent since Putin’s war seems to have a severe impact on the region.
