The Institute of Chinese Studies at Freie Universität Berlin is seeking a Student Assistant (m/f/d) for the Cluster of Excellence Contestations of the Liberal Script (SCRIPTS).

Key tasks

• Research assistance on AI in liberal and authoritarian governance systems
• Support for empirical and comparative analyses (e.g. China and the US)
• Preparation of materials for lunch talks, policy simulations, workshops, and conferences
• Organizational and administrative support, including event logistics, documentation, and social media contributions

Profile

• Enrolled in China Studies, Political Science, Economics, Data Science, or a related field
• Very good English (C1) and good German (B2) skills
• Experience with text processing and web publishing (e.g. HTML, WordPress)
• Strong communication skills, ability to work in a team, and intercultural competence
• IT skills and experience in event organization are an asset

The position comprises 41 hours per month and is limited until 31 December 2026. The application deadline is 16 February 2026.
