The workshops will share a common framework, but each will be shaped through dialogue with local scholars. This allows us to explore different Asian scripts in relation to the liberal script and to learn how scholars in Japan, China and South Korea understand connectivity and resilience from their own perspectives.

These workshops go beyond applying a European framework to East Asia. They seek to engage with perspectives from the region that can challenge, refine, and broaden the questions at the heart of SCRIPTS’ research.

EAST ASIA IS THE STARTING POINT Further regional and thematic initiatives are under discussion. Over time, this project is intended to connect perspectives from different regions and develop a shared international conversation on connectivity and the resilience of the liberal script.
