In our series #facesofscripts we introduce some of our fantastic researchers. We start with Andrea Miranda Avilés, who is one of our Doctoral Fellows at the Berlin Graduate School for Global and Transregional Studies (BGTS). She received her Bacherlor’s degree from the University of Florida with a Major in Political Science, Minors in Mass Communications and Religion and a Certificate in International Relations. She then pursued a Master’s degree in International Relations, also at the University of Florida.

Andrea’s research concerns regionalism and inclusivity. Based on critical theory, she seeks to examine the inclusion of marginalized individuals in the analysis of regionalism and understand the impact of regional organizations on them. In her work, she applies feminist theories and focuses on Latin American organizations such as MERCOSUR or UNASUR in order to expand the scope from Eurocentric approaches to a more global perspective.
