Abiola Oyebanjo is a PhD candidate at the Berlin Graduate School for Global and Transregional Studies. Having completed his Bachelor´s degree in Sociology and Anthropology at the Obafemi Awolowo University Nigeria, he continued his studies at the University of Ibadan, going on to receive a Master´s degree in Sociology. Abiola´s research deals with the issue of labor market integration of oversea educated African migrants, who return in their home countries. Focusing on Nigeria, his research evaluates how government policies and market bifurcation influence the deployment of acquired skills by returnees, how their profiles influences their selection in the labor market and which roles kinship and social networks influence the reintegration and of returning migrants. In order to implement experimental research he collaborates with the Nigeria´s Ministry of Diaspora and the IOM. His research seeks to find out if overseas education can serve as a catalyst for local development.
