In his book, Christoph Möllers aims to carve out forms of a (liberal) order that allows freedom of movement and social variance. Rather than promising any answers, he provides new perspectives on a diverse set of phenomena, such as on the concept of political representation and on the function of territorial boundaries. Ultimately, Möllers argues that freedom is a practice of open-endedness that enables processes without determining their ends.

The Tractatus Prize awards outstanding German-language publications that discuss philosophical questions in the broader sense in an ambitious yet understandable way, are committed to the form of an essay or an essay-oriented non-fiction book, analyse central topics of the time, develop new perspectives, and further interpretations of the crises and conflicts. The prize is endowed with EUR 25,000.
