Berlin Science Week 2019

Berlin Science Week 2019

Populist movements are gaining traction all around the world. In the public discourse, this development is often attributed to social inequality as the main cause. But are unequal distributions of income, wealth, and opportunities really the root of the crisis faced by liberal democracies - or can other factors be identified? What are the social debates and cleavages that populist forces benefit from? Researchers and practitioners will debate these issues from a global and comparative perspective.

The Berlin Cluster of Excellence "Contestations of the Liberal Script – SCRIPTS" together with the Cluster of Excellence "The Politics of Inequality" of the University of Konstanz extend their cordial invitation.

With: Prof. Dr. Marianne Braig (Contestations of the Liberal Script – SCRIPTS) , Prof. Dr. Marius R. Busemeyer (The Politics of Inequality), Laura-Kristine Krause (More in Common), Moderation: Prof. Dr. Christian Volk (Contestations of the Liberal Script – SCRIPTS)
