This event is part of SCRIPTS’ participation in the Long Night of the Sciences (LNDW).

Artificial intelligence opens up new possibilities – but also new forms of deception. Deepfakes, manipulated images and automated fake news are making it increasingly difficult to distinguish truth from falsehood. What methods are being used today? And what does this mean for democratic societies?

The panel discussion organised by the Cluster of Excellence “Contestations of the Liberal Script (SCRIPTS)” uses concrete examples to demonstrate how digital manipulation works and how it can be detected. In conversation with journalist and AI expert Artur Olesch, Genia Kostka (SCRIPTS / Freie Universität Berlin) and Rebekka Weiß (Microsoft Germany) discuss the risks, political consequences and strategies for dealing with AI.
