Science Manager Public Relations, Part time (75%), Fixed term (until 31/12/2032), Pay grade 13 TV-L FU

SCRIPTS is looking for a Science Mamnager who will be resposible for the cluster’s public relations and marketing activities aimed at various scientific and non-scientific target groups. The planning, development and implementation of these activities will be carried out in close collaboration with the management team and the Board of Directors.

Job Description:

  • Conception, planning and implementation of SCRIPTS' press and public relations activities, in collaboration with the cluster management, researchers and Knowledge Exchange Lab, to disseminate research findings and promote academic events.
  • Further development of the SCRIPTS corporate identity (CI), design and production of marketing materials.
  • Design, coordination and implementation of science communication and networking initiatives in collaboration with participating researchers, as well as the press and communications offices of FU Berlin and SCRIPTS partners.
  • Planning, coordinating, editing and distributing the quarterly newsletter and identifying and expanding target audiences.
  • Further conceptual development and editorial management of the website and social media channels (BlueSky, LinkedIn and YouTube).
  • Editing of an internal SCRIPTS communication format.
  • Design, coordination and editorial management of digital publication formats (e.g. blogs, podcasts and videocasts).
  •  Writing PR texts, articles and welcome messages in English and German

Prerequisite:

  • You will need to have completed a postgraduate degree (Master's level) in a relevant subject, such as communication and media studies or journalism, or have equivalent specialist knowledge and experience

Experience: 

  • You will need at least three years' relevant professional experience in an academic or public institution.

Desirable: 

  • Experience of communicating scientific topics and an interest in the cluster’s research focus.
  •  Excellent knowledge of various analogue and digital communication channels (social media).
  • Excellent editorial skills
  • Proven experience in website editing
  • Experience of organising events
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office, Adobe, CMS or similar programmes
  • Excellent command of German and English (spoken and written) at C1 level or above.
  • A high degree of initiative and independence, and excellent organisational skills
