It brings together expertise in social sciences and area studies in Berlin, and collaborates with research institutions as well as political, cultural and civil society groups worldwide.

The position of a student assistant will be based at the newly established W-3 professorship "Contemporary Politics and Societies in Africa" at Otto Suhr Institute for Political Science. In its research and teaching, the professorship will explore existing conceptions of order, in parallel and in competition with each other; and existing scripts in contemporary African societies at different scales (local, national, transnational) as well as the associated dynamics of social transformation and political rule.
The professorship is conceptually and content-wise very closely linked to the Cluster of Excellence "Contestations of the Liberal Script".

Job description:
-Copy-editing assistance (German, English)
-Literature research and review, support in research reports (German, English, French)
-Support in literature database maintenance (endnote)
-Support in homepage maintenance


-Fluency in German and English; French language skills
-Knowledge in one or various of the following research fields: Critical Agrarian Studies, authoritarian populism, radical transformation, comparative politics focusing on Africa
-Experience in copy-editing
-Skills in MS Office, Adobe CS, Endnote
-Experiences in CMS (Typo 3)
-Communicative and organizational skills, team competency
-Intercultural, gender, and diversity competency
