The PALS Survey
PALS 2.0 builds on PALS 1.0, which surveyed around 60,000 respondents across 30 countries revealing widespread support for liberal principles across diverse regions and social groups. While maintaining this core focus, PALS 2.0 studies the social embeddedness and consequences of contestation, rooted within social groups and collectivities, and translated into forms of public contestation. PALS 2.0 identifies the conditions under which contestations of the liberal script may strengthen democratic engagement and pluralism, or instead fuel polarization, radicalization, and exclusion.
